Solution

Erythrocytes are also called Red Blood Cells. They are biconcave in shape flattened and depressed in the center. They contain a protein called hemoglobin that is responsible for the red color of blood. They are produced in the bone marrow through a process called erythropoiesis. They are then released into the bloodstream. They are oxygen carriers and hence are enucleated. They have antigens present on their surface such A and B. These antigens are responsible for the presence of ABO blood group.
