Dear Student,
Following are the three major drawbacks of the Weimar Republic which made it politically fragile:
1. Proportionate representation: Because of this electoral system, achieving a majority by one party was not quite possible. This led to a coalition rule in the country.
2. Article 48: This allowed the president to take emergency measures, suspend civil rights, and rule by decrees under certain circumstances. This created several issues as the actions were taken without informing or taking any prior suggestion from the Reichstag.
3. Unstable cabinet: Within a very short period of time, there were twenty different formations of governments under the Weimar Republic which weakened the public confidence on the government.
