The magnetic properties of a magnet can be destroyed by, also called demagnetization:

1. Heating magnet to very high temperature.
2. Dropping the magnet frequently.
3. Hammering the magnet repeatedly.
4. Bringing the magnet in contact with the like poles of other magnets repeatedly.
5. Passing the electric current through magnet.
6. Leaving the poles of the magnets bare for a long time (called self-demagnetisation of a magnet).
