Write one difference between $$\alpha$$-helix and $$\beta$$-pleated sheet structures of protein.


Solution

In $$\alpha$$-helix structure of proteins, the polypeptide chains are stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bonding whereas $$\beta$$-pealed sheet structure of proteins is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonding.
