Packaging refers to the process of developing a cover or a package for products to protect them from damage. Packaging includes the following functions:

i. It protects the products from environmental effects.
ii. It facilitates easy handling of products.
iii. It also helps in the identification of a product.
iv. It allows customers to re-use the packets.

Labelling basically provides information about the product in the form of tags or graphics. The information provided on a label includes the maximum retail price, the date of manufacture and expiry, features of the product, directions to use, etc. By looking at the label, customers will be able to decide whether or not to purchase the product.
