To find the fraction of a given figure(the coloured parts) represents is as follows:

(i) Count the number of equal parts in which the figure is divided.

(ii) Count the number of shaded parts. 

(iii) The fraction the shaded part represents =  Number of equal parts shadedTotal number of parts in which the figure is equally divided
