Solution

There are many factors essential for the process of photosynthesis. These are light, chlorophyll, water and temperature. In presence of sunlight, plant converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen is excreted as byproduct. The chemical equation of photosynthesis is 6CO2 + 6H2O + light energy = C6H12O6 + 6O2.
The experiment can be conducted to prove that oxygen is released during the process of photosynthesis. For this, keep plant in the beaker and cover it with the funnel. Water is added into the beaker so that the the stem of the funnel is beneath the water level. A test tube completely filled with water is then inverted over the stem of the funnel. Keep the beaker under the sunlight. After sometimes, bubbles are seen accumulating in the test tube. After the test tube is filled with gas, it is taken out carefully and a glowing splinter of wood is kept into the test tube. The wood will soon burst into flame as oxygen helps other substance to flame.
