We have given that
The cost of three books are given below:
Rs. 450, Rs. 520, and Rs. 250
Discount rate on all the books sold = 10%
Total amount would be 450 + 520 + 250 = 1220
Amount of discount on it is given by 10/100 x 1220 = 122
So, the amount after the discount is given by 1220-122 = 1098
If the total bill after the initial discount is more than or equal to Rs. 1000 then, there will be an additional discount of 5% on the total bill.
5/100 x 1098 = 54.90
So, the amount after discount would be 1098 – 54.90 = 1043.10
Hence, the total amount Dilshan was able to save is given by 1220 – 1043.10 = Rs. 176.90
