A drawing sheet changes when you draw a picture on it. Can you reverse this change?

If the picture is drawn with a pencil, then it can be erased; hence change can be reversed. But if the picture is drawn with colours, the change cannot be reversed.

  • Any changes which can be reversed or are a temporary conversion are known as reversible changes.
  • In contrast to reversible changes, irreversible changes are permanent changes. Reactants react to form an entirely new compound and cannot be reversed.
  • Some new substances are formed in the case of an irreversible change.
  • Mostly a new substance is not formed in a reversible change. For example folding of paper, elongation of spring etc.
