A football match is being played at night in a stadium with floodlights ON. You can see the shadow of a football kept at the ground but cannot see its shadow when it is kicked high in the air. Explain.

Explanation:

  1. Shadows are formed on screens. For every object, for us to see the shadow there are 2 necessary things, one is light and the other is a screen where the shadow gets cast.
  2. The floodlights act as light and the ground acts as a screen when the football is kept on the ground.
  3. When the ball is kicked high in the air, the distance between the screen(ground) and the object(football) is so much that the shadow is not cast as well as not visible
