Solution

Frame of reference:

  1. A frame of reference can be defined as the coordination system according to which one can determine the state of rest or motion of an object.
  2. It is used to determine the position and velocities of a person or object in that frame.
  3. Different frames of reference are relative to each other.
  4. Whether or not a person is moving or not depends on the frame of reference.
  5. When a person is inside a moving bus, he is in a state of rest with the people or objects present in the bus but in motion with the objects and people outside the bus.
  6. So, they are two different frames of reference, one is the inside of the bus, and the other is outside.
  7. Thus, the person traveling in the bus will be at rest according to the other people sitting inside the bus as none of their positions are changing.
  8. But the persons inside the bus are in motion with respect to outside objects as their relative positions are changing.

Hence, a person traveling with me on a bus is at rest according to the other people sitting inside the bus.
