A shopkeeper sells 25 articles at Rs.45 per article after giving 10% discount and earns 50% profit. If the discount is not given the profit gained is

(a) 60%

(b) 66%

(c) \(66\frac{2}{3}%\\\)

(d) none of these

Solution:

Selling price = Rs. 45

Let marked price be x.

So 90% x = 45

=> 90x/100 = 45

=> x = 4500/90

= 50

Given profit earned = 50%

Cost price = (100/(100+50))45

= 100×45/150

= 4500/150

= 30

If discount is not given, new selling price = 50

Profit = 50-30 = 20

Profit % = (Profit/cost price)100

= (20/30)100

= 200/3

= \(66\frac{2}{3}%\\\)

Hence option c is the answer.
