Step 1: Calculate the total discount:

The shopkeeper is giving a'10%‘ discount on the microwave and is also giving a blender worth ’1200' as a complimentary gift. So, the customer is getting both microwave and blender at the Selling Price of a microwave.

The total discount=10%of8000+1200

=10100×8000+1200

=800+1200=2000

Step 2: Calculate the Selling Price(SP):

SellingPrice(SP)=MarkedPrice(MP)-Discount=8000-2000=6000

Step 3: calculate the Cost Price:

The showroom earns a profit of 20%.

Cost Price(CP)=100100+Profit%×SP

=100100+20×6000=100120×6000=5000

Therefore, the cost price of a microwave is 5000
