Consider total height of the tower = h

Total time to reach the ground = t

h = 1/2 gt2 —– (1)

The height before last seconds is given as,

h – 24.5 = 1/2 g (t – 1)2

1/2 gt2 – 24.5 = 1/2 g (t)2 + 1/2 g – gt

We get,

t = 3 s

Substituting the value of t in equation (1), we get,

h = 1/2 x 9.8 x (3)2

h = 1/2 x 88.2

We get,

h = 44.1 m

Therefore, the height of the tower is 44.1 m

So, the correct answer is option (a)
