A streamlined body is a shape that decreases the friction drag between a fluid, such as air and water, and an object that passes through that fluid. Drag is the force that reduces the speed of the motion.

• The aeroplanes and ships have streamlined shaped bodies to reduce drag. The streamlined shaped body experiences minimum resistance when travelling through water or air. It helps to reduce friction.
• Drag Force (D) is defined as the force that resists the motion of a body with fluid.
• If the motion of the body exists in the fluid-like air, it is known as aerodynamic drag. And, if the fluid is water, it is known as hydrodynamic drag.
• The drag force always acts in the opposite direction to the flow of fluid.

A body encounters a force that resists its motion when it moves through any medium. The drag force is the name for this force. That is, not all bodies travel through a medium with the same ease.The drag force has always been in the opposite direction of the body’s velocity. If you are familiar with frictional force, you may believe that the drag force is identical to frictional force. The items that fly through the air are also subjected to a drag force.
Water has a higher drag coefficient than air. But how would fish move through water so effortlessly? Because of the fishes’ streamlined body, this is the case. The friction or drag force is reduced by a streamlined body.
