To find the mean value,

Let u the direct method because the numerical value of fi and xi are small.

Find the midpoint of the given interval using the formula.

Midpoint (xi) = (upper limit + lower limit)/2

Formula

 Mean = x̄ = ∑fi xi /∑f = 162/20 = 8.1

Answer

Hence, the number of plants per house is 8.1.

Since the numeral value of frequency(fi) and the class mark(xi) is small, we use direct to find the mean number of plants per house.
