A train passes a station platform in36secondsand a man standing on the platform in 20seconds. If the speed of the train is 54km/hr. What is the length of the platform?

Step 1: Find the length of the train.

Speed=(54x5/18)m/sec

Speed=15m/sec

Length of the train=(15x20)m

We get,

Length of the train =300m

Step 2: Calculate the length of the platform.

Letxmetres be the length of the platform.

Then,

(x+300)36=15x+300=15x36x+300=540x=540300x=240

Hence, 240m is the length of the platform.
