Solution

The correct option is B

reduce eddy current losses

  1. When an alternating magnetic field is applied to a magnetic material, an emf is induced in the material itself.
  2. This EMF produces a current within the body of the material called eddy current.
  3. This current produces loss as this current is not responsible for doing any work.
  4. This loss is called eddy current loss.
  5. Lamination reduces the area of each part.
  6. Hence, resistance gets high, and current is reduced.
  7. Thus, eddy current loss is reduced.

Hence, option (b) is correct.
