A triangle and parallelogram are constructed on the same base such that their area are equal. If the altitudes of the parallelogram is100m, then find the altitude of the triangle.

Step 1: Find the area of triangle and parallelogram

Let the triangle and parallelogram have common baseb,

let the Altitude of the triangle ish1 and of parallelogram ish2 (which is equal to 100m), then

Area of triangle=12×b×h1

Area of parallelogram=bXh2

Step 2: Find the altitude of the triangle

As per given

12XbXh1=bXh212XbXh1=bX100h1=200

Hence, altitude of triangle=200m.
