Solution

Zones of a flame

  • There are three zones in the candle flame in which the non–luminous zone is the zone of complete combustion.
  • The first zone is called the outer zone, and the second zone is called the middle zone.
  • The third zone is called as Inner zone.
  • The luminous zone has a limited oxygen supply and is moderately hot and the third zone is the dark zone.
  • This does not burn due to the absence of air.

Whose water will get faster heating :

  • The water in Ramesh’s beaker will heat up in a shorter time.
  • Since he has kept the beaker in the outermost zone of a flame which is the hottest zone in which the complete combustion is taking place
  • Whereas Abida's beaker which is kept in the yellow zone is less hot .
  • As the middle zone which is the zone of partial combustion so it is less hot than the outermost zone.

Hence, Ramesh’s water will get heated in a shorter time.
