All crop plants are sown as seeds in the field . Two crops which are cultivated by sowing seeds directly into the field are peas and wheat. Two crops which are cultivated by transplanting in the field are paddy (rice) and chilly. Some methods are:
- A funnel-shaped tool is used to sow the seeds traditionally.
- In the broadcasting method of sowing, the seeds are spread uniformly and are then covered with planking.
- Drilling: The seeds are dropped into furrow lines in a continuous flow and are then covered with soil.
- Transplanting: In this process, the seedlings are first planted in nurseries and then planted in the prepared fields.
