Solution

Acidic oxide: An oxide that exhibits the property of acids is called an acidic oxide.

  • Acidic oxide reacts with water to form an acid.
  • These oxides are formed by the reaction of Oxygen (O) with non-metals.
  • Examples: Dinitrogen pentoxide (N2O5), Sulphur trioxide (SO3)
  • SO3(l)(Sulphurtrioxide)+H2O(l)(Water)H2SO4(aq)(Sulphuricacid)

Thus, Sulphur trioxide reacts with water to produce an acid i.e.; Sulphuric acid.
