Are diagonals of a rhombus equal?

Open in App
Solution

The Diagonals of Rhombus are not Equal.

Why are the diagonals of a Rhombus not equal?

Let us first understand the Properties of the Rhombus

Properties:

1. All Sides are equal

2. Opposite sides are Parallel.

3. Opposite Angles are equal

4. Angles May or may not be Right angles.

Let us examine the fourth property mentioned above.

Angles May or may not be Right angles.

If Angles are right angles

Then the Rhombus becomes a Square. A tilted one, if we may say. But in a Square the Diagonals are equal.

If Angles are not right angles

Then the Rhombus is a quadrilateral, where diagonals bisect each other and are not equal.
