Solution

C6H12O6(aq)+6O2(g)6CO2(g)+6H2O(l)+GlucoseOxygencarbonwaterheatdioxide

  1. On the basis of temperature, reactions have been classified in two ways i) Exothermic reactions and ii)Endothermic reactions.
  2. Exothermic reactions are those reactions in which heat energy is evolved. For example respiration, and combustion reaction.
  3. Endothermic reactions are those reactions in which heat energy is given, for example, in cooking food.
  4. The above reaction represents respiration, in which food (glucose) is broken down by oxygen to produce carbon dioxide gas along with heat energy.
  5. Since heat energy is evolved in the reaction, therefore the reaction is exothermic.

The reaction C6H12O6(aq)+6O2(g)6CO2(g)+6H2O(l)+GlucoseOxygencarbonwaterheatdioxide is exothermic.
