Question

Calculate the amount of charge flowing in 2min in a wire of resistance 10Ω when a potential difference of 20V is applied between its ends?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given

Time, t=2min=120sec

Resistance, R=10Ω

Potential difference, V=20volt

Step 2: To find

We have to find the change flowing in the wire

Step 3: Calculation

Let's find the current,

I=VRI=2010I=2

Using the current let's calculate the charge flow,Charge=I×t

I×t=2×120I×t=240coloumb

Hence, the amount of charge flowing in a wire of resistance is 240coloumb.
