Calculate the mass of a mole of carbon dioxide.

Open in App
Solution

  1. Mole is anything that contains the same amount of quantity which is equal to the number of atoms present in 12g of carbon 12 (C-12) which is 6.022 x 1023.
  2. The number of moles of an element is given by = Given mass/Atomic mass
  3. The molar mass of CO2 is 44g.
  4. The number of moles of CO2 is given by 1.
  5. Numberofmoles=GivenMassAtomicMass
  6. 1=Mass44
  7. Mass=44g
  8. The mass of 1 mole of the substance is the molar mass that is 44g in case of CO2, we can calculate in such a manner also.

Therefore, the mass of 1 mole of CO2 is 44g.
