a) Ethyne

Open in App
Solution

  1. Molar mass is the sum of the masses of all the individual atoms present in a molecule or compound.
  2. The atomic mass of carbon C is 12 u.
  3. The atomic mass of carbon H is 1 u.
  4. The atomic mass of nitrogen is 14 u.
  5. The atomic mass of phosphorous is 31 u.

a) Ethyne

The chemical formula of ethyne is C2H2

Molarmassofethyne(C2H2)is=(Atomicmassofcarbon)x2+(Atomicmassofhydrogen)x2

=(12x2)+(1x2)

=24+2

=26

The molar mass of ethyne C2H2 is 26 g mol-1.
