Solution

Step 1:-Percentage composition of the boron

Percentage composition of boron =

Weightofboroninthecompound×100%Totalweightofthecompound

= 0.096g×100%0.24g

= 40%

Step 2:- Percentage composition of the oxygen

Percentage composition of oxygen =

Weightofoxygeninthecompound×100%Totalweightofthecompound

= 0.144g×100%0.24g

=60%

Thus, the percentage composition of the compound by weight is 40% of boron and 60%of oxygen.
