Virtual images cannot be obtained on the screen because the image formed is from the light rays that do not meet but appear to meet when they are produced backwards. The image obtained will always be erect.
Difference between real images and virtual images:
|Real images||Virtual images|
|A real image can be obtained on the screen as the light rays coming from the object meet each other either after reflection or after refraction.||A virtual image is an image obtained from the light rays from the object which do not meet and when produced backwards they appear to meet.|
|A real image can be obtained on the screen.||These images cannot be obtained on the screen.|
|The real image is always inverted.||The virtual image is always erect.|
