Can the standard deviation ever be negative?

Standard deviation formula is used to find the values of a particular data that is dispersed. In simple words, the standard deviation is defined as the deviation of the values or data from an average mean.

It cannot be negative

0 is the smallest value of standard deviation since it cannot be negative. When the elements in a series are more isolated from the mean, then the standard deviation is also large. At least two numbers in the data set which are not precisely equal to one another, standard deviation has to be greater than zero – positive. Under no conditions can standard deviation be negative.
