Solution

Types of oxides:

  • Depending upon nature and the properties exhibited by compounds oxides are classified into neutral, amphoteric, and basic or acidic oxides.
  • An acidic oxide is known as an oxide that when combined with water gives off an acid.
  • A basic oxide is basically known as an oxide that when combined with water gives off a base.
  • However, when a substance reacts chemically, both as a base or acid it is known as the amphoteric oxide.
  • Neutral Oxide is known as the one that neither has an acidic characteristic nor a basic one.

Classification of the given Oxides :

  • Acidic oxide: B2O3, SiO2, CO2
  • Basic oxide :Tl2O3
  • Amphoteric oxide : Al2O3, PbO2
  • Neutral oxide :CO
