Solution

Bile juice:

  1. Bile juice is responsible for emulsifying fats & breaks them down into constituent small particles.
  2. It is secreted by liver.
  3. This is a detergent-like action of bile that helps the body to absorb the broken down fat products in the gut. In the connection to this, bile salts bind with lipids to form micelles. This is absorbed through the intestinal mucosa.
  4. Bile juice often helps in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
  5. Bile also serves as a route of excretion for bilirubin, a by-product formed during the destruction of red blood cells.
