Define melting and vaporisation

The process in which a substance changes from solid-state to the vapor state is referred to as melting.

The process in which a substance changes from liquid state to the vapor state is referred to as vaporization.

In both cases that are melting and vaporization, the increase in temperature leads to an increase in the kinetic energy of the molecules. The force of attraction between the molecules reduces due to the change in state.
