Presbyopia:

  1. Presbyopia is the gradual loss of the eye's ability to focus on nearby objects.
  2. For most people, the near point gradually recedes and the far point comes closer.
  3. This defect is called presbyopia.
  4. As the person gets older, the power of accommodation of the eye decreases.
  5. It arises due to the gradual weakening of the ciliary muscles and diminishing flexibility of the eye lens.
  6. This defect is then corrected by using bi-focal lenses of suitable focal lengths.
