Self-Inductance:

  1. The quality of a current-carrying coil that opposes the change in current passing through it is called self-inductance.
  2. By Faraday's law, e=-LdIdt. Where e is emf, L is inductance and I is current.
  3. The unit of inductance is Henry.
  4. The amount of inductance necessary to create an emf of 1 volt in a conductor when the current changes at a rate of 1 ampere per second is defined as one Henry.
