Solution

Weedicides:- Chemicals that kill weeds are known as weedicides.

Selective weedicides kill certain targets while leaving the desired crop relatively unharmed. Weedicides are chemicals that are sprayed over the fields to get rid of weeds.

Weeds are those plants that grow in between the crops and take nutrition from them. These weeds, feed on the nutrients provided to the crops and thus reduce the supply of nutrients to the crops, thereby, hindering their growth. The growth of these weeds needs to be limited in order to enhance the growth of the plants

Weedicides are chemicals that are sprayed over fields to get rid of weeds. They will not show any effect on crop plants.

There are two major categories of herbicides classified by mode of action: contact herbicides and translocated herbicide

Examples of weedicides:

  • 2 4 Dichlorophenoxy acetic acid
  • Naphthalene acetic acid
  • Atrazine
  • Glyphosate SL
  • Metribuzin WP
