There are three zones in a candle flame. All these three zones have different colour and temperatures.

About Outer zone:

  • This is the first zone which is blue in colour.
  • This is the non-luminous part of the flame.
  • This zone is the hottest in temperature when compared to the other zones.
  • In the outer zone, complete combustion of fuel takes place.

About middle zone :

  • This is the second zone which is yellow in colour.
  • In the middle zone, partial combustion of fuel takes place.
  • This zone is moderately hot.

About innermost zone :

  • This is the third and the innermost zone.
  • This zone is black due to the presence of unburnt wax vapours.
  • This zone is least hot.
