Solution

Cockroach:

Cockroaches are insects, which come under the order Blattodea.

The alimentary canal of cockroach is differentiated into three prime parts:

Foregut:

  1. The starting of the alimentary canal takes place with the foregut, which constitutes the mouth and its surrounding parts.
  2. The mouth leads into the short tube-like composition known as the pharynx.
  3. A short tube is connected with the pharynx known as the esophagus.
  4. The food is transferred into the sac-like organ known as the crop by the esophagus.
  5. The food is stored in the crop and is emptied into the gizzard.
  6. The food is ground into the smaller particles by the gizzard, which comprises six internal teeth.

Midgut:

  1. It comprises two absorptive and secretory parts.
  2. The connection between the midgut and foregut is the hepatic caeca, which comprises six to eight ring-like tubular compositions.
  3. At the terminal of the midgut, the Malpighian tubules are present, which is an excretory organ.
  4. They are shaped like fine tubules, and all these parts in combination are known as the mesenteron.

Hindgut:

  1. It comprises parts identical to the colon, ileum, and rectum of other species.
  2. This part of the alimentary canal removes the feces via the anus.
