Solution

Elections in China do not represent people’s verdict because

  • In China, elections are held after every five years for electing the country’s parliament, called Quanguo Renmin Daibiao Dahui (National People’s Congress).
  • Before contesting elections, a candidate needs the approval of the Chinese Communist Party.
  • The government is always formed by the Communist Party.

Therefore, we cannot say that the elections conducted in China are free and fair. It is always restricted and put a hold by the Communist Party and so, the elections do not represent the people's verdict in China.
