Open in App
Solution

Equivalent weight: It is the mass of one equivalent, that is the mass of a given substance that will combine with or displace a fixed quantity of another substance.

Formula to calculate the equivalent mass

  • Equivalent weight = Molecular weight/Valency.
  • Valency =2
  • The molecular weight of CaCl2 = 110g/mol
  • Equivalent weight = 110/2

= 55

  • Hence the equivalent weight of CaCl2 is 55.
