Question

Evaporation causes cooling. Explain why?

Open in App
Solution

Evaporation:

  1. Evaporation is the process of converting liquid into vapor by applying heat.
  2. During evaporation, liquid particles gain energy from their surroundings in order to overcome the force of attraction between them.
  3. As a result, heat energy is lost in the surrounding environment. The energy is taken away by the molecules when they convert from a liquid into gas, and this causes cooling on the original surface.
  4. It is clear from the preceding explanation that evaporation causes cooling.
