Solution

Evolution :

The changes that take place in the population over succeeding generations are known as evolution.

Evolution and Progress:

  1. It is true that most evolution occurs from lower to higher complexity, but there are some cases where complex organisms that exist in deeper conditions develop as well.
  2. New species are produced from existing species during the process of speciation. This isn't to say that the old species have vanished from the planet.
  3. In comparison to previous species, the newly generated species may or may not be superior.
  4. The phenomenon of genetic drift and natural selection has simply favored the emergence of these species.
  5. They have a unique body type that prevents them from interbreeding with the previously existing population.
  6. For instance, chimpanzees and humans share a common ancestry despite not having evolved from each other.
  7. The most basic living forms, bacteria are the oldest known life form and still persist today and can be found in all types of settings, from hot springs to frigid temperate zones.
  8. Thus, evolution should not be confused with progress.
