The following were the conditions of women before the French Revolution:
- Women were considered as socially inferior to the men. There was no access to education except for the women from first and second estate.
- Small jobs such as selling fruits, flowers, etc were assigned to women from third estates.
The following were the conditions of women after the French Revolution:
- Women were still considered as passive citizens and were not granted political rights.
- The right to vote was given only after 1946.
