The differences between pure air and polluted air are as follows:

PURE AIR POLLUTED AIR
  • Pure air has a mixture of gases in a definite ratio which is good for living beings.
  • Polluted air has contaminated substances and harmful pollutants.
  • The volume of major gases present in pure air is, Nitrogen(78%), Oxygen(21%), Carbon dioxide(0.03%)
  • Polluted air has no such definite composition of these gases.
  • Other gases present in the pure air are:- Argon(Ar), Methane(CH4), Ozone(O3) , Water vapours
  • The gases present in the polluted air are:- Sulphur dioxide(SO2), Nitrogen dioxide(NO2), Carbon monoxide(CO), particulate matter, etc.
  • Pure air is always refreshing to us and keeps us fresh.
  • This type of air also contains bacteria or viruses which are harmful, hence are not refreshing
  • Pure air is very safe to breathe.
  • Polluted air is not at all good for breathing, it causes respiratory diseases.

The pure air is the mixture of gases in a definite ratio which is good for living beings and the polluted air has no such definite ratio of these gases.
