Trachoma is an eye infection caused by the bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. This infection is contagious and spreads through contact with the eyes, eyelids, throat or nose secretion of infected people.
Symptoms of trachoma are:
i) Eye pain
ii) Swelling of the eyelid
iii) Sensitivity towards light
iv) Irritation and mild itching of the eyes
v) Discharge of eye pus
Prevention:
Trachoma can be treated either by using antibiotics or through surgery.
