The structure of white phosphorus is as follows:
- It exist in P4 units
- 4 P atoms at the corners of the regular tetrahedron
- <PPP=60°
- Each P atom linked with other 3 P atoms by covalent bonds
- There are a total of six bonds and four lone pairs molecule in white phosphorus
- phosphorus atomic size is more so it can form single bond with other phosphorus atoms. Hence it exists as tetra atomic molecules.
