Explain the working of hourglass

The hourglass was used to measure time in ancient times. The working principle of the hourglass is the same asa water clock, but sand is used here instead of water. It is still found in some places, in a reduced form. The hourglass is commonly known as a sand clock or a sandglass. The hourglass consists oftwo glass bulbs. The two bulbs are connected vertically by a narrow neck that allows a regulated flow of sand from the upper bulb to the lower one. The upper and lower bulbs are symmetricto ensure thatthe hourglass will measure the same duration regardless ofits structure and orientation.
