Solution

Form equations from the given information

Given, A is increased by 20%, and is equal to B, so B=A+20100A ...(1)

Also, it is given that if B is decreased by 50%, it equals C, so C=B-50100B ...(2)

Substitute the value of B from equation (1) in equation (2), we get

C=(A+20100A)-50100(A+20100A)C=(A+15A)-12(A+15A)C=(5A+A5)-12(5A+A5)C=6A5-3A5C=35A

So, C is 35 of A.

Now, convert this into percentage by multiplying the value by 100,

C=35×100ofAC=60%ofA

Therefore, 60% of A is equal to C.
