Solution

Step 1: Given data

  1. Fresh fruits contain 68% water = 68 Kg water in 100 Kg of fresh fruits
  2. Dry fruits contain 20% water = 20 Kg of water in 100 Kg of fresh fruits

Step 2: Calculation

  1. Dried portion of fresh fruits = 100−68 = 32 Kg of a dried portion
  2. Dried portion of dry fruits = 100-20 = 80 Kg of a dried portion
  3. Therefore, 1Kg of Dried portion = 100/80 Kg of dry fruits.
  4. As 32 Kg of dry portion = 40 Kg of dry fruits and 100Kg of fresh fruits = 32 Kg of the dry portion.
  5. Hence, 100 kg of fresh fruits has 40 kg of dry fruits in them.
