Minerals:-

  1. The solid substances that may, or may not be formed from a single element are called minerals.
  2. Minerals can be made of a single element or they can be made of more than one element when combined together.
  3. These types of minerals that are made of one or more elements are called mineral compounds.
  4. Some common examples of minerals are Mica, feldspar, halite, and calcite.

Extraction of minerals:-

  1. Minerals are mainly extracted from the surface of the earth.
  2. Although we can say that the layer from which the minerals are extracted is called the crust.
  3. There are three main processes of extraction, namely, Mining, Digging, and Quarrying.

Therefore, minerals are extracted from Earth's surface.
